black rock beach, black rock
/Mamma is letting you in on a little secret here .. this may be one of the best hidden strips of beach - for adventuring and swimming in Melbourne!
The stunning cliffs, intricate rockpools and vast expanse of water, make this such a magical spot. This is not the best area for swimming with little kids, as it does get deep very quickly - but if you’re visiting for an adventure - this is the place!
You will need to walk down a rather steep ramp (coming back up can be a challenge!) or further down there are a few flights of stairs. But once you spot the bay and those views, you know you are in for a treat.
At the bottom of the ramp, turn right if you are going to check out the rockpools and cliffs, or head left for the best swimming spots.
These rocks are fairly easy to climb for little feet - though they can be a bit slippery at times. Depending on tide times, you will find plenty of little pools hiding all sorts of sea creatures and forming tiny cascading water falls in some places. Climb through the black rocks up to the little red sandstone rocks, grab a stone and you can carve your name into them. Look up at the stunning white cliffs and it truly is a spectacular vision.
Keep walking down through the rocks and you will reach Black Rock jetty and Half Moon Bay.
It’s the perfect spot for a bit of fresh air and adventure with the family!
