Mamma’s got another fully fenced playground to add to the list! Elsternwick Park Playground (North) is a wonderful little oasis on the Bent Avenue end of the park.

If there are little climbing enthusiasts in the family, they will love this playground! On one end, there is the giant rope climbing frame with a nest at the top for little adventurers to take in the view of the surrounding parkland. On the other end is a play structure complete with rock climbing wall, vertical rope tunnel and chute slide.

For the younger kids, there is a small water play area with a hand wheel pump, low toddler swing, tunneled mounds to explore and musical instruments to thump.

And once the kids are done on the equipment, why not pull out the  scooters or bikes and follow the paths around the park -  make sure to stop at the small skate park (the perfect size for kids!) and lake where you can look out for the resident turtles.

hewison reserve playground, st kilda east

It’s easy to enjoy and appreciate the newly renovated Hewison Reserve in St Kilda East when you know those sneaky little toddler legs have no way to escape the confines of the fully fenced and gated playground.

It’s easy to enjoy the newly renovated Hewison Reserve when you know those sneaky little toddler legs have no way to escape the confines of the fully fenced and gated playground.

With several wooden structures dotted around the space, the kids can climb, slide and swing to their hearts content.

There are several ladders and rope nets to scale, a couple of modest slides to slip down, swings to swing on and an observation tower to survey the land.

Though there are some beautiful large trees across the reserve that offer a little shade around the seating areas and nature play space, most of the equipment itself is in full sun so make sure to slip slop slap before going!

With a grassy (unfenced) area to kick the ball around and bbq/picnic facilities right next to the playground, it’s easy to spend an afternoon here with the family.

You are going to love this fully fenced all abilities playground! From the massive Silo Tower with giant slides, to the basketball court and open grassy spaces (perfect for mini hill rolling)! AND it has a toilet - with a change table!

From the massive replica Silo Tower with giant slides, to the basketball court and open grassy spaces (perfect for mini hill rolling)! AND it has a toilet - with a change table!

Mamma’s crew couldn’t wait to climb up the giant tower! There are two ways to do this - up the middle through a rope net/tower - or up the spiralling stair case (Mamma chose the latter!) Listen out for the musical buttons and swing across balancing beams as you make your way to the slides, and then choose from the huge twisty slide or the even bigger twisty slide to disembark!

There are also inground trampolines, a round-a-bout spinner, a giant sandpit, multiple swing set, mini slide, stepping stones, under cover picnic tables, BBQ facilities and a little path that runs throughout the playground to scoot on!

If you are looking for the ultimate playground - you’ve come to the right place! Fully fenced - Waterplay - Massive slides AND toilets!

WOW! This spacious, all abilities playground ticks EVERY box!

If you are looking for the ultimate playground - you’ve come to the right place! If you could dream up your fantasy playground, chances are that THIS playground will have it all!

Something challenging for the older kids? Yep. We’re talking a super-high open wire tunnel connecting one HUGE twirly slide to another structure with two smaller slides. Leading up to the slide is an intricate rope ladder staircase - definitely for the brave!

The older kids will also love the hamster wheel - trying to keep upright proves a challenge - especially when you have someone spinning it from the outside - loads of fun. There’s a square swing set with 5 swings - including one with a harness.

Surrounding the slide structure- which also encompasses a rock climbing wall, rope ladder, climbing poles, cubby and nest swings; is a cement path - perfection for bikes and scooters! This path weaves throughout the playground.

On the other side of the path - opposite the slides is a dual zip liner - one with a disc seat and the other with a harness. Four mini in-ground trampolines, a climbing/balancing section with multiple wooden logs, a hammock and a rolling slide.

How about things to keep the toddlers happy? TICK! There’s a separate section for them as well. This is great - it is mostly under shade sails and consists of a huge sandpit - with a bridge over a dry rock bed, and musical instruments. In the sand pit there is a digger, bucket and chain sand play equipment AND a water tap which empties down little paths to create a small stream of MUDDY PLAY! Heaven for those little hands!

Opposite the sand play is a carousel that has room for standing, a small seat and room for a wheelchair. Swing sets - including a nest swing, Liberty swing and an awesome expression swing!

There’s also two undercover picnic areas and BBQ facilities. AND yes, there ARE toilets, and YES it is FULLY FENCED!

So pretty much playground paradise here folks!

Mamma’s special mention: Keep the fun going and head to Crazy Climb!

This is such a beautiful playground. Even better than its stunning surroundings (which is pretty hard to top) is the fact that it is FULLY fenced AND has a toilet!
The views at the park, and driving there - are just breathtaking. You can see the Dandeongs, the ocean and dozens of deliciously green trees - perfect for climbing.
The playground has a large rock climbing wall leading up to a climbing structure with wobbly bridge, a double wave slide, another large separate slide and a fireman pole. There are also swings, a dinosaur and bumblebee rocking horse, a tractor and another small climbing structure with a slide and shop front.

There’s a few picnic tables to sit at inside the fenced playground, but there is also huge open space under the shade of glorious trees outside the playground. Such a lovely spot to spend a couple of hours at.

This amazing playground has it ALL! Fully fenced - toilets - water play and more!

If Mamma had to write a dream list of all the things that the crew wished for at a playground, it would amount to this fantastic spot!
Where to start. Well, firstly, the most important - practical - things to a family with young kids - toilets! Closely followed by being FULLY fenced in. There’s a Changing Places restroom, catering for the disabled. The playground also has all-abilities equipment. There are multiple undercover BBQs with picnic tables and a water tap, making it perfect to spend a few hours.

Then there’s the fun stuff! The playground is grouped into different ‘themed’ areas. As you walk in you will see the ‘aquatic’ zone first. Mamma’s little one loved this one the most. It is set to look ‘under the sea’ with a few clear circular seats set amongst red poles - perhaps imitating anemones? That’s what Mamma told the crew, anyway! There’s also a water pump offering a bit of water play.
There’s the ‘birds in flight’ zone, which offers multiple swings, a flying fox, huge tunnel and a twirly slide. Also a large xylophone you can make pretty sounds with. There are also two ‘calm down’ areas with kids can sit and read the ways to calm down. This is very cool and unique.
The ‘lettuce zone’ and ‘amphibian zone’ offer sandpits, multiple slides under shade cloth, spinning wheels, tunnels, inground trampolines, balance beams with lizard imprints and more!

So to summarise, there are toilets - water play - cool play equipment - undercover BBQ area - plenty of bench seats - it’s fully fenced AND there’s even a wireless phone charging station! AMAZING.

*Note - at time of visiting, there was construction on the slide area and water play switched off.

Mamma's special mention:
There are a few great playgrounds in Clyde - check these out whilst there - Oaks Park Playground, Clydevale Park, Hill Farm Park, Highgrove Outlook and grab some food at Deoro and Co cafe.

This cute little FULLY FENCED playground has just what you need to keep the kids happy for hours. There’s even toilets, a BBQ and picnic tables, as well as being opposite to a footy oval.

The playground has been updated and includes some cool equipment such as; multiple slides, an intricate climbing structure, a rock wall, monkey bars, swings and more. There’s a bit of a nature theme happening here, with the main climbing structure’s roof in the shape of leaves, wooden stumps to climb over, heaps of trees and the ground is covered in tanbark.

Hold on to your dragonflies good people - there is a BRAND NEW PARK and it is BRILLIANT - with a capital B!

Hold on to your dragonflies good people - there is a BRAND NEW PARK and it is BRILLIANT - with a capital B!

It’s been a long time coming, but it was worth the wait. Deep Creek Reserve in Pakenham is simply a fantastic, all ability play space.
The biggest feature - and of course you can’t miss this one - is the giant dragon fly. It’s so beautifully crafted, you will be mesmerised by the wings alone. The kids will have a ball running up and down the ramps, hiding in the eyes and playing underneath.
But of course, that isn’t all. Under the shelter (yes - you read that right) you’ll find water play. This is the ‘pack a spare pack of clothes’ kind of water play and great for playing and exploring - not full bathers … unless you are really desperate to cool down.
More great things to discover include the wheelchair slalom which could also double as a bike track (note: scooters struggle on the fine rocks), the huge birds nest swing, plenty of noisy and musical equipment, plus climbing frames and sensory gardens.
This fully enclosed and fenced playground is going to be a total hit and we can’t wait to come back.

Mamma's special mention: If you thought it was a perfect playground … you are totally right because there is also a kiosk cafe around the corner at the golf course! All within walking distance.

Mamma just loves a fully fenced in playground!

This one is fresh and new, it is small but has a cute under the sea theme which is fun!

There’s a great pirate ship to climb aboard. Complete with two slides, a fireman pole and a little table and bench seat to enjoy a ‘pirates picnic’, as Mamma’s Little Miss likes to call it.

There’s also an in-ground trampoline, a nest and two regular swings, rocking ‘fish’ and a round-a-bout. Outside of the fenced in area is a large green grassy spot - perfect for kicking the footy or a round of cricket.

A very cool little local playground - fun for everyone!

You’ve gotta love a fully fenced in park!

How good is a fully enclosed park! There’s no way the little ones can escape from here! Which is a good thing seeing as the reserve runs off a main road.

Not only is it fully enclosed, but there’s also an outdoor gym to keep the adults busy, too!

The playground itself has some gorgeous little gumnut babies poking through the equipment. A little cubby house shopfront, swings, slides, climbing wall, open grass area for ball sports, a sandpit with a digger and more.

There’s a few tables with some shade and a BBQ. Around the corner is an off-leash dog park, so bring your fur babies along for some fun!

Mamma loves a fully fenced in playground!!

Mamma loves a play-space that is fully fenced in!
This is a perfect spot for a play. Yes, it may be small - but the space is exquisitely executed for maximum fun.

There's your usual suspects - swings, slides, spinning wheels; and then there are your heroes - climbing net, sandpit and hammock - BUT then there is something you don't see very often, in fact - this Mamma has NEVER seen one before - a climb-aboard rocking tram! Or as the little ones labelled it - disco tram! How Melbourne is that?
The whole playground is covered with either tarmac or rubber mats.

This cute little play space is located in the median strip of a wide street, with lovely views of the city buildings, whilst also being a stones throw to the beautiful South Melbourne beach.

You can bring a picnic, enjoy it at the picnic table under leafy trees and relax in peace knowing the there will be no escape acts from the little Houdini's!

Mamma's special mention: The South Melbourne Life Saving Club is about 100 meters away and it's cafe Dollies serves wraps, toasties, hot dogs, drinks etc. if you feel like a spot of lunch and it also has the closest public toilets.
